Frozen Diamonds

Set in the arctic region and released in August 2016, Frozen Diamonds is a gemstone-themed video slot developed by Rabcat and provided by Microgaming. Classic Diamonds from Rabcat is relatable. Rival games include Asian Diamonds (May 2018) from Novomatic, Diamond Wild from iSoftBet, and 5 Diamonds from Betsense. All symbols have regular payouts, and require three, four, and five winning combinations.

Frozen Diamonds Game Characteristics
Frozen Diamonds has a 5X3 grid, 20 fixed pay lines, ten symbols, self-adjusting payouts, two bonus rounds, cascading symbols, nine coin values, a win multiplier, and up to ten free games. The Frozen Diamonds’ payouts are between $0.02 and $2000. The lone special symbol is a multicolored “Wild” diamond that is also a substitute. There is no scatter.

The nine Frozen Diamonds ordinary symbols: a trillion cut orange diamond on a bigger blue princess diamond; a round green jade gem on a larger blue princess diamond; an emerald red ruby on a blue princess diamond; a plum diamond on a blue princess diamond; a “K” blue diamond, a “Q” blue diamond, a “J” blue diamond, and a “10” blue diamond.

On loading, the Frozen Diamonds software displays the three special features: the bonus fall, the free spins-triggering Wilds, and the extra free spins.

The coin values in Frozen Diamonds: $0.01, $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, $0.20, $0.25, $0.50, $1.00, and $2.00. These are the only possible bets in Frozen Diamonds: $0.20 (minimum bet), $0.40, $1.00, $2.00, $4.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, and $40.00 (maximum bet).

The Frozen Diamonds payouts self-adjust based on the total bet. For instance, the $40.00 maximum bet yields these payouts for three, four, and five winning combinations. The trillion orange diamond-encased blue diamond pays $80.00, $400.00, and $2000.00. The jade-encased blue diamond $40.00, $200.00, and $1200.00. The ruby-encased blue diamond pays $30.00, $160.00, and $800.00. The plum diamond-encased blue diamond pays $24.00, $100.00, and $600.00. The “K” diamond pays $10.00, $50.00, and $120.00. The “Q” diamond pays $8.00, $40.00, and $1000.00. The “J” diamond $6.00, $30.00, and $80.00. The “10” diamond $4.00, $20.00, and $70.00. The multicolored Wild pays $80.00, $400.00, and $2000.00.

Any three back-to-back winning combinations offer either five or ten free games, although there are extra free games that are offered by the so-called bonus falls. The cascading-related bonus rounds are called first bonus fall and second bonus fall. A regular winning round prompts the first bonus fall (its reel three has 2-3 Wilds) wherein the winning symbols cascade, thereby paving way for newer symbols; if the first bonus fall also has a winning round, the symbols cascade for the second time called second bonus fall (its reel three has 3 Wilds; plus the X2 win multiplier), paving way for more symbols. There is no progressive jackpot.

The Frozen Diamonds software is good, with only two buttons on the grid namely settings and spin. Under settings, there are bet settings, general settings (on/off magical ambient sound and howling wind sound effect, and an on/off left hand mode). The 3D animated graphics are awesome, especially the wintry conditions, gracier, exploding diamonds, and falling snow. However, the spinning speed is slow.
