Dragon Lore

Dragon Lore (October 2018) is a dragon-oriented video slot made by a Midlands-based games developer named Bulletproof Games and provided by Leander Games. The themes are fire dragon, ice dragon, gemstones, oriental, Ayurveda/elements of nature (air, earth, ice, and fire), Overworld, mysticism, and Chinese mythology. Also from Bulletproof Games; Diamond Geeza and Lucky Gems are gem-themed too. Dragon Lore has lots of rival games, including 5 Dragons (August 2011) from Aristocrat Gaming, Wild Dragon from Amatic, and Dancing Dragon (February 2017) from Playson.

The slot’s name Dragon Lore, also spelled dragonlore, is a noun that especially refers to the Chinese folklore relating to the mythical reptiles called dragons. Eight of the Dragon Lore symbols (J, lightning bolt, ruby gemstone, Q, blue gemstone, white gemstone, K, and diamond) require three, four, or five winning combinations; one symbol (the “Dragon Lore” red dragon) requires two, three, four, or five winning combinations.

Dragon Lore Game Characteristics

Dragon Lore has a gray 5X4 grid whose reels spin concurrently but the reels stop from left to right, one after another. It is fitted with ten symbols, transforming and locking and freezing reels, up to 100 autoplay rounds, and fixed odds with regular payouts ranging from X0.2 to X25.

The twenty fixed pay lines are one-way, thus paying from left towards right. The orange-and-purple J, golden K, and bluish white Q are ordinary symbols only; while six symbols (golden lightning bolt, princess cut blue gem, green diamond, trilliant ruby, standard round gem, and a white-eyed red dragon) are both ordinary and free spins-offering special symbols. The round multicolored “WILD” gemstone is also a substitute. The free games come in batches of eight.

Dragon Lore loads to show its five elementary free spins, unlocked by five dissimilar symbols that award the reel bonuses: orange lightning free spins plus a possible multiplier gift from the dragon; green earth free spins plus a dragon transforming reels into wilds; red fire free spins plus a reel-locking dragon; white ice free spins plus wilds-freezing dragon; and blue air free spins plus possible wilds from the dragon’s breath. Players are prompted to “press to continue” to the interface.

The Dragon Lore’s ten bet sizes: $0.20 (minimum bet), $0.40, $0.60, $0.80, $1.00, $2.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, and $40.00 (maximum bet).

Two, three, four, and five red dragons pay X0.2, X2.5, X10, and X25. Three, four, and five winning combinations: J, or Q, or 10 pays X0.2, X1, and X10; lightning bolt, or blue gem, or green gem pays X0.4, X2, and eight free games; ruby pays X1, X4, and eight free games; and white gem pays X2, X8, and eight free games. Dragon Lore’s non-progressive jackpot is $2500.00 when $1.00 is bet; thus, betting the $40.00 maximum bet yields $100,000.00.

The good Dragon Lore software has a well-organized interface. Apart from the on/off speaker at the top right, the other buttons are on the left (stake, information and game rules are at top left; autoplay and spin are at bottom left). The autospin sessions can be customized based on: optional autoplay rounds (5, 10, 25, 50, or 100); or specific pre-set win limits (no limit, $10.00, $20.00, $50.00, or $100.00) or loss limit ($5.00, $10.00, $30.00, $40.00 or $50.00. The sound effects range from magical to howling wind to roaring dragon and chiming bell. The entertaining 3D animated graphics include a restless half-asleep dragon that is perched on ice, where it wakes and flaps its wings to trigger snowfall.
