If you are a Canadian, you can deposit to online casinos, poker rooms and sportsbooks straight from your bank.
However there are a few banks in Canada that unfortunately don’t want anything to do with gambling transactions. Even with the OLG all moving online etc – they’ll allow you to deposit there, but they won’t allow you to deposit at a different online sportsbook or poker room.
In this article I will cover all of the popular deposit methods available for Canadians. You should be able to deposit at the likes of Bovada with most or all of these deposit methods.
There may be other deposit methods available as well – but these are the most common ones found at legitimate online sportsbooks. This will be sorted in alphabetical order:
Apple Pay: Only a few sportsbooks offer this and it is ones that have an app on the Apple Store. Bet365 is one such option.
Bitcoin: A lot of online poker rooms, sportsbooks etc who cater to Canada don’t actually accept Bitcoin. But there are quite a few that do and it’s fairly simple – you set your deposit amount and they instruct you to transfer it within 15 minutes to a specific address with a locked in rate.
Credit Card: Some online gambling sites will accept Credit Card deposits. It’s normally only Visa or Mastercard, and I should advise it will be hit or miss in terms of your credit card company blocking it or not.
ecoPayz: A “middle man” much like how Paypal operates where you deposit money from your bank to this eWallet, and then straight into the sportsbook etc. I should note I’ve found fees are higher than normal with ecoPayz. This was also formerly known as ecoCard.
iDebit: With iDebit, you are able to send money straight from your bank account to the poker room in question.
Instadebit: This is the one I would recommend the most. I’ve used Instadebit for years and it has been great. Fees are very low, and transactions are made promptly. If I make a withdrawal at an online sportsbook such as Bovada on a Tuesday morning, they will have the money paid to my Instadebit account by Tuesday afternoon. Then it takes two seconds to process a withdrawal, and the money will normally be in my bank account on the Wednesday.
Interac: Many online sportsbooks accept Interac transfers. It’s fairly easy to use – you simply give them the email address which you have registered for Interac and the deposit amount, then they provide you with the information in regard to sending it.
MuchBetter: This is a P2P platform which allows you to make transfers. You need to deposit funds into MuchBetter as it is an ewallet much like Paypal, then from there you can deposit it into the gambling room of your choice.
Wire Transfer: You can make a bank wire transfer to online sportsbooks such as Bovada. How it works is they will give you their bank details and you have to issue a wire. Note that you have to wait for the funds to be received by them, and there is usually a minimum deposit.

Additional Canadian eWallet Questions:
Are these options safe for Canadians?
I’ve personally used all of the above with no issues. I prefer Instadebit over them all as it makes it so much easier for depositing and withdrawing.
