This was an interesting question that I received – someone asking if there were any variations on the standard game of Pai Gow Poker.
They are a fan of Pai Gow Poker, and love to play it. However they know the flexibility of online casinos, and the features they can add to new games. I mean we have roulette with 5 wheels, Blackjack with lightning striking the hands depending on the cards displayed. Online casinos can be crazy, so are there any different types of Pai Gow Poker online?
Yes.
I’ve only been able to dig up two variations of Pai Gow Poker thus far – and I’d love to hear from you if you know of any others by submitting answers below. Here’s what I’ve found:
Fortune Pai Gow Poker: This variation of the standard game of Pai Gow Poker is an odd one – as it takes away the skill element. What Fortune Pai Gow Poker does is basically make you rely completely on luck – it judges your hand, without you ever splitting it. It does have some things going for it though, such as an envy bonus which is a special bonus paid out depending on the ranks of hands, and also a progressive jackpot. The jackpot comes into play when you get a straight flush of 7 cards. No biggie.
Pai Gow Poker Mania: It’s really just Pai Gow Poker. The only difference is it gives a couple of additional spice bets to “ante” up the game – pardon the pun. The first side bet – when you see the first three cards, if you want to you can place an extra bet. The second side bet, it’s just putting down an additional bet when all 7 of your cards are out.
Unfortunately as I said above – these are the only variations of Pai Gow Poker that I know of. There are a couple of variations in casinos I’ve seen. For example – No Push pai Gow Poker. That was a game I saw at a couple of casinos. In that one, the banker will always be the dealer. However if both hands are won by the player there is no commission – it’s an actual even money payout. That was an interesting one.
Also the “no push” factor means there is no tie. So if there is a push, or a tie, then it depends on whose cards are greater – the players card or the bankers. Also if both hands are the same, then of course the banker will win that one!
